In one of the more interesting twists in the Windows 8 story, we finally got some more details on the 8.1-inch Acer Windows 8 tablet by the name of Iconia W3, when the device showed up on Amazon.

The news of this device first surfaced late last month, but even though Acer recently announced a number of Windows 8 products, this particular tablet was not among them.

But that did not stop Amazon from putting it up on its website — before pulling it down, of course.

The product page for Acer Iconia W3 revealed that the 8.1-inch slate featured a display resolution of 1280 by 800, and housed an Intel Atom processor running at 1.5 GHz. The 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage placed the device smack in the midrange category.

Pricing was set at $379.99, though there is a fair chance the price would have been altered near launch.

An 8 hour battery life and weight of 1.1 pounds rounded up the specifications. Additionally, Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 were said to be installed — now where these were trial versions or not, was not entirely clear.

The device is obviously not available at this time, in fact, not even officially announced by the hardware vendor, but there it undoubtedly exists and could see daylight in the coming weeks or months.
