The technology titan has recently confirmed that Windows Blue is going to come with a unique set of improvements to the company’s Surface lineup of tablets, but that is not all.

Redmond is also planning some updates for its tablet covers as well. Both the Touch and Type Covers will come with support for some essential Windows shortcuts to improve the productivity of the tablets.

As Brian Hall, the general manger of Microsoft Surface explained in a statement:

“With an update that will come in about a week for Surface, we’ll have the ability to toggle between what the keys on the top row do, get some quick access to other capabilities like screenshots through shortcuts, and just make some things like paging easier to do with one hand.”

In other words, the new hotkeys are going to be based on the function key and provide quick access to users to adjust brightness, print screen or access the homepage.

Taking a screenshot, for example, on the Surface slates is not as straightforward, considering the absence of the Print Screen key. Microsoft will finally be addressing these and other such grievances to make the covers much more productive for Surface owners.

Some select users have already received this new update, and it will be rolled out to all users in the coming week. More information should be heading our way in around a week’s time as Microsoft unveils the software update in its complete details.
