The final version of Windows 8.1 will come with several reimagined tools, and one of the apps that are getting a completely new redesign is the popular Map app.
This new redesign is expected to include several new features that are supposed to help users make the most of the Metro UI, while offering a streamlined email experience in the new operating system.
And now a new set of screenshots offer us a sneak peek at the new interface of the app that is on target to be released as part of the RTM version of Windows 8.1 later this year.
As the image above shows, the most noticeable of changes is an improved left sidebar. There is also better support for the Snap View mode, contact cards, Skype chat buttons, and enriched Outlook.com integration, obviously.
The improved Snap View mode, for instance, will let users read and write email messages side by side, without the need of opening or closing another window.
You can take a look at the bunch of screenshots at the link above, but all signs point to a better email experience in the latest version of Microsoft’s flagship operating system.
Speaking of which, Windows 8.1 is reported to hit RTM status sometimes in August, and the new OS should be generally available in October.

The new email app looks great! Now, if they can get the Maps app straightened out and better integrated with Bing like the new Google Map browser app does, then maybe I’ll finally make use of it. It’s bare-bones basic at this point.
