Dejecting. Those of you holding out for a new Windows 11 preview build to arrive this week will probably not be pleased to learn that Microsoft is skipping one.

The software titan just released the first build in the more stable Beta channel of the preview program.

This is the same version that launched towards the end of last week, that being build 22000.100. It brought with it a handful of new additions to go with a bucketful of fixes that Redmond worked on after input from Insiders like you.

However, something similar will not transpire in the Dev channel this week.

Microsoft confirmed in a tweet that it had not flighted a build for this more advanced channel of the preview program this week.

Fingers crossed that the team is back with a new build next week.

With the OS now gaining promotion to the Beta channel, this is a sign that Microsoft has started to hit a certain threshold of stability that it was seeking. That’s because Beta channel builds are usually more reliable.

Besides, Dev channel builds are not exactly tied to a specific version.

That said, those of you who jumped into the Dev channel just to try out Windows 11 now have a little window to go back to a more stable channel in the form of Beta. That will continue to provide you with the ability to test builds that are a step below the bleeding edge.
