Can we have better naming, please? It has been a while since Qualcomm introduced any significant updates to its PC platform, but the company is reported to be readying something.

Something in the form of the Snapdragon 7c Gen 2.

That is, according to this reliable little report from the guys over at WinFuture.

Last we got a refresh from Qualcomm is the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G, which can be barely considered a new chipset as it was a minor change from the two-year old Snapdragon 8cx. Prior to that, we had the Snapdragon 7c and 8c for lower-end devices in 2019.

Now, the chip giant is ready to refresh the Snapdragon 7c — one of the most successful chipsets for Qualcomm. The company has launched a handful of devices for each generation, in Snapdragon 835, 850, and 8cx.

The internal name of this new solution is SC7295, and according to reports, it is similar to the SM7350 that is likely to make an appearance in phones as the Snapdragon 775.

In terms of hardware specifications, we have the prime core that is clocked at 2.7GHz, while it is going to have three big cores that run at 2.4GHz and four little cores that beat at 1.8GHz. Basically, nothing out of the ordinary, just totally optimized.

Speaking of optimized, Snapdragon 7c is finding its footing in Windows devices for the educational market, with a couple of new machines recently launched with 4G LTE connectivity and long battery life at the $299 price point.

The configuration puts it at par with the Snapdragon 8c, which makes for a significant upgrade.

We’ll find out soon enough, I suppose.
