What trickery is this! Microsoft’s Chief Technology Officer of AI has left the company to join a New York City based artificial intelligence focused real-estate brokerage firm called Compass.
The company previously went by the name Urban Compass.
Joseph Sirosh had been with the Redmond based technology titan for five-and-a-half years, and prior to that he spent eight years at Amazon where he led the development team for Amazon’s Machine Learning service.
He was appointed Corporate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of AI in June 2018 by Microsoft, and before that he was CVP of the Cloud AI Platform at the company. Sirosh oversaw Cognitive Services, Bot Framework, Machine Learning, Azure Search and more in that role.
Prior to that he was CVP of the Data Platform at the Redmond giant, where his responsibilities included databases, big data, machine learning and information management.
Truth be told, Microsoft has been quietly reorganizing things lately.
The company moved a number of its AI research teams and projects into its commercial product groups. At the same time, there have been a number of high-profile departures these past few months, including head of Cortana, Javier Soltero, who left the company late last month.
As for Compass, the company is working on new AI powered products for the real-estate market, and is focused on using technology to reduce the time to buy and sell properties.
