Steve Ballmer just can’t stay out of the news, even if he tries. The under fire CEO of Microsoft has been regularly criticized in the media by several industry circles, from users to analyst, even journalists.
Even Microsoft partners are jumping in the fray.
Sanjay Bhatia, the CEO of Izenda, one of the companies that sells software to Microsoft is of the view that an upper management change is necessary at the Redmond technology company. It already has great products and services, but a shift in leadership could go a long way in Microsoft’s success.
In an interview with FoxBusiness, Sanjay said:
“Microsoft is moving too slow. They are doing the right thing, but they don’t have a sense of urgency. I think somebody needs to go in to realize like they did in Bill Gates’ days that the time is now and you can’t wait years to embrace these new ideas and new products.”
Sense of urgency, you say?
For all intents and purposes this is a term that seems to be in short supply in today’s technology world. Sure, the weak and uncertain economic climate is not helping things one bit, but a lot of companies are playing the waiting game instead of taking initiatives.
And worse yet, a lot of technology companies are slow to respond when it comes to changes and embracing new ideas. Bill Gates’ time seems like ages ago, and the time before him, stuff of legend entirely.
Ballmer for his part has said that he plans on remaining Microsoft CEO until 2017 or 2018.
But what do you guys think? Is Ballmer (and his slow reaction time) negatively affecting Microsoft to extent that a change in leadership could turn things around? Or is Mr. B the right man at the top?
