The app made it easy to get recommendations for apps and more, making it a useful addition to the Windows Phone 8 app library. Now it seems that this isn’t were the two companies cooperation ends. Microsoft and Mimvi announced earlier today that Mimvi will now be using Windows Azure technology to extend its core technology to both internal and external partners and groups in the Microsoft ecosystem. The new relationship allows Mimvi to enhance and extend its app search, discovery and recommendation engine, and is equally beneficial to Microsoft’s end. Microsoft’s Dan Sandlin, a manager of the Windows Azure team, had this to say about the new strategic partnership: Companies such as Mimvi that develop ways to approach mobile search and app recommendations can take advantage of Microsoft’s scalable cloud solution. With Windows Azure, Mimvi can quickly build, deploy and manage its core mobile search and discovery technologies and applications across a global network of Microsoft-managed datacenters. Windows Azure will help enable Mimvi to quickly provide clients and partners with the services they need in an increasingly competitive environment. In addition to search and recommendations, Mimvi will also utilize Windows Azure to build out a suite of products based onits technology, this includes MimviLink, which is a mobile advertising network that is used to match mobile apps to relevant advertising content. Mimvi is quite excited about the future potential of their relationship with Microsoft and the use of Azure technology. In their founder, Kasian Franks, on words: Our strategic technology advantage and relationship with Microsoft will serve Mimvi well. Windows Azure is a great match for Mimvi’s growing technology needs. The mobile space is exploding with apps, and without good search technology and a strong cloud foundation to serve our results, we wouldn’t be able to keep pace with the growing demand for our services. Mimvi is currently the only search engine designed specifically for mobile app recommendations and continues to grow. Having Mimvi using its technology is good news for Microsoft, and shows just how much Azure has been growing and catching the attention of businesses in recent years. It is also equally important for Mimvi, because it allows them to reach beyond their current grasp.
