Microsoft has dropped a short teaser for HoloLens 2, its next holographic headset, with the video containing some subtle clues about the upcoming device.

Which, the company is expected to unveil during a scheduled press event on February 24.

HoloLens is all set to be one of the more interesting products to be revealed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) this year.

It is an event that typically focuses on smartphones. But gone are the days when the company brought along its Nokia and Lumia branded devices on the trip to Barcelona. This time, we have the next-generation HoloLens headset in focus.

And while the details are yet to be confirmed 100%, the fact that this video below was posted by Alex Kipman, creator of the original HoloLens, does tell that something good is coming. And it may be coming in carbon fiber.

As for rumors about the internal circuity, we have been hearing that the next HoloLens will make use of the Qualcomm XR1 platform, which promises both a high-performance mixed reality experience in a more affordable and power-efficient design compared to the current version.

HoloLens 2 is also said to have a wider field of view, to go with a lighter body, which is a given.

Microsoft had also announced, back in 2017, that the second iteration of HoloLens will house an AI coprocessor. And given the attention artificial intelligence has received since then, this is another thing that should be expected.

We’ll find out soon enough.
