It seems like Microsoft is working towards a public preview version of Windows Blue.
Leaks on the web have revealed that Microsoft is aggressively targeting a summer launch date for Windows Blue. In addition, it seems that Microsoft recently crossed Milestone 1 for Windows Blue and is now preparing a Milestone Preview which will form the basis for a public preview.

TheVerge is also reporting that search will be a huge part of this update.
We’re told that the Bing team is working closely on Windows Blue to improve search in a significant way. A number of scenarios are being targeted, including the ability for users to search for a movie and have apps surface that content and provide a quick way to play it.
The current implementation of search in Windows 8 supports deep search within apps, but users currently have to select those apps to search within them. Blue will expand on that, providing apps are updated to support it, by extending the search abilities of the OS.
Windows Blue is expected this summer for existing Windows 8 users. It is said to bring with it support for new 7- and 8-inch devices and Internet Explorer 11.
Blue is regarded as the first major step Microsoft is making to unify their platforms.

Who cares! MS is out of control.
who cares what you think moron
Not bothered now as switched to Apple. Have used Windows for years but since Windows 8 I don’t know what the hell they’re playing at. Windows 8 is for tablets and phones, not a PC, especially if you don’t have a touch screen, which I assume a lot of people don’t. They’ve really screwed up I feel.
We’ve upgraded 2 of our 5 home desktop systems to Win8 from Win7 and honestly haven’t seen any loss on productivity. Not missed the start button once and have no
problem using it without a touch screen. We also have a Surface and I miss the keyboard and mouse more on that than I miss having a touch screen when using the Desktop PC. It’s no loss at all and I just can’t get my head around all these haters who moan. I also use Server 2012 at work and likewise never felt the need for a touch screen or start button for that matter.
Some people seem to have trouble with windows 8 on a regular PC for some reason. I don’t. I have a regular screen and a mouse, and I still FLY with speed in windows 8. And, I love the way you SEE things, like when you click on News for instance…..it pops up in a full screen like as if you had a big news paper right in front of you. The windows store is awesome, there are so many neat apps you can get, and many are free.
Ian, completely disagree… you’ve gone down a a dead end path which hopefully you will realize soon… paying an arm and a leg for a very closed and poorly supported product.
I totally agree with the other guys responding to you – I am moving AWAY from Apple, two laptops now with Win8, evaluated Surface RT and sold it on successfully because I am now waiting for my Surface Pro 128 about to be delivered… and will dump my Apple iphone 5 in April and switch to a new Win8 phone.
way to go mate, this is the way to go
