The Windows Phone gang is all set to go large screen in a few months. There have been reports in the recent past that vendors are looking at launching large screen sized devices powered by Microsoft’s mobile platform.
And Nokia seems to be ready to join the fight in this area by launching a 5.2-inch Windows Phone 8 handset very soon.
The Finnish telecommunication titan is said to be working on a certain Lumia 825 that would pack the above mentioned screen size. However it is being reported that the device will only be capable of pushing a 720p display resolution.
And as UnwiredView notes, this particular screen resolution would explain why this upcoming handset is included in the Lumia 800 range — meaning it will only be a midrange smartphone.
The device is said to feature a quad-core processor inside, though only a mid of the road chip, probably a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 that is clocked at 1.2GHz. What this would also mean that the 825 would be a rather affordable Windows Phone 8 smartphone, built particularly for emerging markets in mind.
Nothing official has been revealed on the handset until now, but word has it that it will be unveiled in the fourth quarter of the year, which makes sense, actually.
Windows Phone 8 does not play nicely with such large touchscreens, but the upcoming GDR3 (General Distribution Release 3) update is set to change that.
