The built-in weather app that Microsoft has bundled in with the latest versions of its Windows operating system is a perfectly capable application that serves its purpose and more.
But if the default Weather app is not exactly your cup of tea, then here is one app that claims to offer a few more goodies. Raindrop is one of the best designed Metro apps you can download off the Windows Store, and it gets strong with each update.
A look at the official description:
“Raindrop is a weather experience, waiting to be explored. With dynamic content, accurate results, and colorful imagery, the Raindrop Experience is the best way to view weather information for your area.
It provides access to current weather conditions for your location, forecast for the next 7 days, and hourly weather forecast for the next 12 hours. As well as, forecast for any location around the world!”
Raindrop recently received a solid update that not only brings performance improvements and bug fixes, but also a bunch of new features aimed at both Windows 8 and Windows RT users.
For example, the Cover View background image can now be automatically downloaded from Bing Image of the Day service, and the latest weather conditions can be viewed right from the lock screen thanks to lock screen notifications.
The app comes with a price tag of $1.49, but a free trial is available that lets users take it for a spin. And it supports all versions of Windows 8, including ARM based ones.
