With two bright new models officially unveiled, Microsoft has also announced that the preorders of the Surface 2 and the Surface Pro 2 start on 11 PM Pacific Time on September 24.
Microsoft Stores, Best Buy in the US and Canada, along with select retailers around the world will be taking preorders for the two slates, with the devices themselves going on sale at retail locations next month on October 22.
Surface 2 is available in 32GB and 64GB configurations, with prices starting at $449 — this makes it a bit more affordable than what the original Surface RT launched at last year.
The Surface Pro 2, on the other hand, can be had in the configurations of 64GB and 128GB with 4GB of memory. Prices for these models start at $899. Power users might be interested in further beefed up Pros that are offered in 256GB and 512GB with 8GB of RAM.
While these prices are, more or less, what was speculated by various sources, the company will continue selling its premier tablet — the original Surface RT — at the enticing price of $349.

You can preorder the device here at this link, but as noted above, deliveries will not start sooner than October 22, a few days after the official launch of Windows 8.1.

I’m not sure $449 is yet the price sweet spot, but at least it gives them room to run holiday deals and future price drops.
