Another casual indie game arrives on the Windows Store. Those of you old enough to remember and play the classic arcade title 1942 (look it up) that was released back in the glorious 80s can expect to find similar gameplay between both games.
This is, for all intents and purposes, a modern version of that classic title — but with a number of notable differences. The primary one being that Aces of the Luftwaffe scrolls horizontally instead of vertically in the classic.
Before we get to the gameplay dynamics here is the official description:
“It is the darkest hour for England. The Axis are sending their best into the Battle of Britain, and only a handful of brave pilots are left to destroy them. Get into your war plane and don’t let go of the trigger before each and every enemy has been blown out of the skies! But even if you vanquish the notorious Aces of the Luftwaffe, are you prepared to take the fight to the mainland?”
This free game has you fighting in chapters, which can be replayed whenever you want. The player also gets additional medals that can be collected, and can be either put to use to improve the fighter plane or unlock more levels.
Plenty of upgrades are available within each level too. And the game is a hectic, if enjoyable, ride. Action gets pretty intense during each level.
Luckily super weapons and end level bosses keep things interesting. Medals can also be purchased in-house using the built-in store, though like all quality free games they are not a necessity to progress or finish the title. Microsoft’s modern OS is supported on all three processors, namely x86, x64 and ARM.
