That’s it, we finally have a strong enough indication that the James Bond themed codename of the upcoming Nokia products have a few things in common. One of which is the fact that they will be the first to get Windows Phone 8.1.
In other words, Nokia will be the first off the gates with the Windows Blue update next year.
The Finnish telecom titan is readying up to release two such devices, and codenames of both were recently leaked to the web. Now evleaks has gotten the latest scoop on the matter, and according to him (or her) Goldfinger and Moneypenny will be the first two Windows Phone 8.1 devices.
In a recent tweet the notorious leaker said:
“Nokia Goldfinger and Moneypenny are shaping up to be the first Windows Phone Blue devices.”
While little is known about both devices, the codenames on face value at least suggest that one is a high end handset, while the other one seems to be an affordable one — I will leave which is which to you.
But anyway, going by previous such leaks, once the codenames are out, it does not take all that long for concept images, press renders, specifications and benchmarks to make their way up.
So we do not have too much of a wait on our hands for more details.
As for Windows Phone 8.1, until Microsoft makes any official announcements, consider all of this as something hot off the rumor mill, and nothing else. Things are heating up, however, this much is certain.
