revealed plenty of details and hardware specifications about this upcoming notebook that boasts this Ultra HD resolution on its 15.6-inch screen. An impressive pixel resolution of 3840 by 2160 results in a 282ppi pixel density. While the device weighs in just 2.2 kg (4.8 lbs), it still packs in some rousing hardware under the hood. You get an Intel Core i7 CPU that handles whatever you throw at it with ease, in combination with a stirring 16GB of RAM. A 1TB hard disk is also said to be an option, along with a 2GB AMD Radeon R9 M265 graphics unit. What we have no idea about right now is the price of this beast. Hopefully that is coming before this extraordinary Windows 8 device goes on sale in the second quarter of the year.]]>

  • Great news! I’ll wait and see what the price is, but I had a Toshiba about a decade ago and I loved it. I wonder how much they’ll price it at though, because that’s the key if I’m going to seriously consider investing.

    • I agree, @disqus_UfIC38lwVp:disqus. Price is everything these days. I am currently using a Toshiba Satellite laptop now that is almost 3 1/2 years old, and I love it! I only wished I had a backlit keyboard and an Intel Core i7 (versus the i3 I have now). I need to check out the specs on this but it sounds like my next machine. 🙂
One other thing would be nice: a built-in HD webcam! The one I have now is so bad that I use an external MS HD webcam. Not too convenient.

  • Smart move. It is funny that iPads and tablets have made laptops even smaller. You’d figure it’d make laptops bigger because people can watch stuff on their laptop and carry their tablet with them. Toshiba being logical.

  • I’m not great at hardware/software terminology. What does 4K mean exactly? Better resolution or bigger or both? Thanks. Cool article, David.

  • 4.8 lbs is pretty light for a computer that size! I’m impressed. I want to see how this turns out.
