Arrival of the Week Who knew developer previews would one day be used by end users in this high a capacity. The software titan made available this flavor of Windows Phone 8.1 on Monday, and fans ate it up like it was nobody’s business. Can’t fault them, really, the mobile OS comes loaded with new features. And Cortana.

Retirement of the Week

It already is the month of retirements, so why not one more. After Windows XP, Office 2003, Windows Server 2003, Exchange Server 2003 and Internet Explorer 6 reached end of life earlier this month, Redmond seems to have also said goodbye to its Scroogled campaign against rival Google. Sayonara.

Confirmation of the Week

Despite the sheer value and convenience they offer, there just aren’t as many dual SIM smartphones as there should be. Sure, Samsung throws one out every few months, but these are mostly budget models. Nokia has now done the same, confirming the arrival and price tag of the Lumia 630. Two, please.

Cut of the Week

The best thing about software is write once, sell many times over. Microsoft have made their fortune this way, and the company knows that completely abandoning its popular OS, Windows XP, is out of question. It is now offering custom support at some drastically reduced prices. I’d buy.

Fake of the Week

Some might be inclined to say that there are more fake account on Twitter than on any other social network. They may be onto something here, as news came out that the company suspended the recently created account of a Steve Ballmer doppelganger. Fake, of course.]]>

  • Nice wrap up. A slower time for Microsoft than normal, but slow in Microsoft’s world is quick in 90% of businesses. Have a nice weekend! 🙂
