The past few months have raised some uncertainty regarding the future of the HP Elite x3, the flagship Windows 10 Mobile handset from the hardware giant that currently is the best buy for the platform.

Earlier today, though, it emerged that HP was set to discontinue the sales of this device this November.

Needless to say, the news caused a bit of a stir in the community — even at a time when the mobile OS itself is going through uncertain times. What with the lack of new hardware, and software being retired left and right.

Fortunately for Windows Phone fans, though, it turned out to be a false alarm.

An HP spokesperson confirmed that the company plans to sell the Elite x3 through 2019. Make of this statement what you will, and take it as either a confirmation that a successor is not coming anytime soon or as a sign that the hardware giant is standing behind its Windows flagship come what may.

Here are the official words:

“HP is always responding to customer feedback to deliver the best product experiences. We remain committed to our mobility strategy and vision and will sell the Elite x3 through 2019 while continuing to enhance our portfolio delivering multi-OS devices, accessories and workflow transformation solutions. Mobility is an exciting and rapidly evolving area, and HP will continue to explore ways to address our customers’ mobile computing needs.”

Looks like HP will continue selling its 3-in-1 PC, along with other devices from the Elite lineup.

And really, that’s the least the company can do for what is still the most unique handset on the market in terms of functionality. That being virtualization of those traditional Windows programs through its novel Workspace service.

The flagship also has a heavy focus on Continuum, the feature that allows users to use the phone as they would a PC.

Now, only if HP could settle on a price.
