Man, that was fast! Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 April 2018 Update is now fully available, and is actually already powering 250 million devices, in more or less two months.

With Windows 10 itself approaching 700 million devices out in the wild.

This newest version of the OS, also known as Version 1803, saw daylight at the end of April.

Redmond released this latest refresh of its operating system to a whole range of devices, including PCs, Xbox One consoles, HoloLens and IoT hardware. The rollout was staggered, as it always is, with the software titan making the April Update available to compatible devices at different stages.

However, as it notes, reaching this milestone took half the time as the Fall Creators Update.

And the company credits artificial intelligence for this success.

April Update Rollout Statistics

Microsoft reveals that starting with Windows 10 Version 1803, it automatically delivered the update to similar devices based on feedback form certain machines. Instead of the usual practice of having actual people test it out first.

Of course, the firm did not mention how it drastically changed the way updates are delivered with this version — hitting the Check for updates button actually forced the installation process.

In other words, there has to be a large fraction of users that initiated the installation by accident, leading some to experience problems for their devices.

However, the technology giant does not that it is seeing higher satisfaction numbers, fewer known issues and lower support call volumes compared to previous Windows 10 releases.

Has to be a good thing, this.

Anyway, if you want to upgrade your PC to Windows 10 April 2018 Update, then this version should now be waiting for you in Windows Update.

Happy installation!
