It’s that time of the year again. That time when Microsoft reveals its quarterly results. And this time around, the company had some splendid numbers to post.
Revenue increased 17% year-over-year, to end up at $30.085 billion in Q4, up from the $25.605 in the fourth quarter of last year.
Broken down into the three Microsoft segments, Productivity and Business Processes made $9.7 billion, Intelligent Cloud $9.6 billion and More Personal Computing, $10.8 billion. The three segments therefore saw 13%, 23% and 17% growth.
Which is impressive.
Net income came in at $8.9 billion, equally impressive.
Several units performed remarkably well during this time span, including Surface. The premium hardware division saw an uptick in revenue by 25%, which according to Microsoft is due to the strong performance of the latest models.
The Surface Go, obviously, is not included in these numbers.
Gaming revenue also increased by 39%, with the Xbox software and services unit recording a growth of a solid 36%.
On the Windows side of things, we have Windows OEM revenue increasing by 7% thanks to OEM Pro revenue growing by 14%. Windows commercial products and cloud services also witnessed a 23% increase, driven by an increased volume of multi-year agreements primarily.
For the fiscal year 2018, Microsoft reports an overall revenue increase of 14% to reach figures of $110.4 billion, while operating income also saw an uptick of 21% to $35.1 billion.
Solid stuff.
