Gamers, represent! Microsoft has released Windows 10 build 18334 to the Fast ring channel, and this version of the preview comes packing a bunch of gaming improvements.
The company has not detailed much in the changelog.
But to make up, it is offering you a chance to play State of Decay for free.
Redmond explains that it is bringing technology tailor-made for gaming to the operating system, in a move to improve the gaming experience in the OS update. For this reason, Insiders are required to download the game and try it out in order to provide Microsoft with feedback on how everything runs.
Needless to say, only a few limited seats of the game are available, which itself is offered free of charge for a limited time.
That said, the software titan has promised more slots to open up that will let more people in, so feel free to deploy this build and take a chance.
As for the game itself, State of Decay is an action-adventure survival horror stealth video game that was released in 2013. Although this is an older title, using this for testing means that Windows 10 users will not be required to have demanding hardware to run it.
If you do manage to download and install build 18334, beware of a few known issues that the company has detailed in the post above.
One particular bug concerns Windows Security, which may display an unknown status for the virus and threat protection module. Microsoft says that this can occur after upgrade, restart or change in settings, so take note.
This is sure to be fixed in a future update, so it’s a worry for another day.
For now, zombies await.
