The question asked by Adrian Covert of CNN Money is how big is too big? Â We’ve all been treated to the 5-inch Samsung Note, which stretched the limits of smartphone size at 5 inches. Â But even to me, the thing always looked suspiciously like a mini-tablet, neither fish nor fowl.
Well, not to be upstaged, the good folks from Huawei have added one inch and created the 6-inch Huawei Ascend Mate. As Adrian puts it;
Start playing with the device and it’s quickly clear that Huawei didn’t make the phone bigger to address any particular need or shortcoming. It didn’t advance the cause of melding phone and tablet into — ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh — a “phablet.” It supersized the Ascend Mate purely for the sake of novelty.
It’s quite unreal to view this monstrosity alongside an iPhone as shown above.  It would likely be great for watching streamed movies, but for use as a phone, I’ll pass.  I’m also pretty confident I have no pockets this big boy could fit into.
What do you think of the Huawei Ascend Mate? Would you like to see Windows Phone 8 in this form factor?  Might there be some possible use in the enterprise?  Share your thoughts in our discussion.
