AdDuplex: Nokia Lumia 920 Is The Most Popular Windows Phone

The mobile advertising network, AdDuplex, tallies and crunches the numbers from it ad impressions in the apps for the Windows Phone devices and shares its findings this time of the month.

The latest statistics for the month of June show that the Nokia Lumia 920 is now the most popular Windows Phone device worldwide. The deluxe smartphone has a market share of 12 percent.

It is followed closely by the Lumia 710, which currently stands at 11.6 percent.

The two affordable Windows Phone 8 handsets from Nokia — the Lumia 620 and the Lumia 520 — are also climbing the ranks at 9.4 percent and 8.4 percent globally.

These numbers are collected by data gathered from 701 Windows phone apps. Additionally, it also reveals that Windows Phone 8 has finally overtaken Windows Phone 7 devices worldwide. The latest version of Microsoft’s mobile operating system now commands a share of 53 percent.

And consequently, the market share of Windows Phone 7 devices is now 47 percent.

Microsoft is currently busy preparing the Windows Phone Blue update for its mobile OS, which is set to go live either by the year’s end or early 2014. The company has also planned smaller refreshes to the platform before that.

With a number of new hardware vendors and smartphone makers expressing interest in developing devices for Windows Phone 8, the next year as a whole represents a massive opportunity for the platform in terms of overall growth.
