Mark your calendars, ladies and gentlemen! For Microsoft is confirmed to have a presence at the prestigious MWC 2020 conference set to be held in Barcelona between February 24-27.
This marks a return for the company at the Mobile World Congress.
Contrary to what some may expect, the Redmond based technology giant will not discuss mobile phones. This, despite Microsoft already having announced an Android powered handset in the form of Surface Duo that is on track for launch this year.
Instead, the highlight will be HoloLens, AI, edge computing, and autonomous systems.
Several bigwigs are already confirmed for the show, with Panos Panay one of the executives that will be there. He is the chief product officer at Microsoft and typically discusses the Surface lineup. Perhaps we will get some new information on Surface hardware at the gathering.
What we are assured of is some HoloLens news.
As shared by Tom Warren of The Verge, the holographic headset will the focus for the company, as Alex Kipman is listed as one of the hosts. Seeing that HoloLens 2 started shipping about two months back, it seems that the company may be ready to show off the cellular variant of the device.
It could also be that the company may be ready to show off new apps and features for the headset.
Nevertheless, with less than a month is left before the event we will find out the details soon.
It kicks off on February 23 at 5PM Central European Time, a day before the MWC officially begins.
