Looks like our look at the next major feature update to the OS is right around the corner. Microsoft has compile the first Windows 10 21H1 build, and testing is set to begin any moment now.
And that’s because references to this preview version have been spotted online.
Redmond has just shipped the May 2020 Update for the operating system. But now all eyes are on Windows 10 version 2009, which is on track to land in the fall if we go by the current cadence — possibly as the November 2020 Update.
The preview build in question is Windows 10 build 20133.1000, of the 21H1 release, codenamed Iron.
And it has surfaced, in a sign that the software titan has shifted attention to this next major release. While this particular build is not yet available for testing, it is likely to land in the Windows Insider program in the coming weeks.
The software titan did recently confirm that the first build previewing the next major Windows 10 feature update could arrive for Insiders sometimes this month.
What’s interesting is that there is speculation that the next feature update for the OS, 20H2, will not be high in terms of new features, as Microsoft plans to emphasize polishing the overall experience of the platform and improve its stability.
In other words, the approach it took with the November 2019 Update.
Perhaps this is the right way to go about things. More so after the relatively massive May 2020 Update that brought along a ton of new additions.
Perhaps not.
Anyway, development on version 2009 is likely to advance during the summer, with the feature update supposed to be finalized in September. It should ship for users in November.
