Can everyone play nice with one another for once! Microsoft has discovered new compatibility issues with the Windows 10 May 2020 Update, and these affect certain LTE modems.
In other words, some PCs that house this connectivity hardware are not able to connect to the Internet after waking up from sleep.
Let me know where you’ve heard this before!
The software titan updated the Windows 10 Health Dashboard yesterday, noting down this problem, and explaining that certain WWAN LTE modems are now creating trouble for the newest version of Windows 10 — or vice versa, what have you.
Redmond expects to fix this issue in a patch that is on track for late September, but in the meantime, it has applied a compatibility hold on devices that pack these types of chips.
That is to say that these users will not be able to upgrade to the newest version of the OS.
For users that have already installed the May 2020 Update on these machines, and are encountering this problem, Microsoft suggests a recommended workaround. It involves enabling and then disabling Airplane mode to connect to the Internet after waking up from sleep.
Oh well.
The Windows 10 May 2020 Update launched with several compatibility issues, primarily related to driver and hardware. Microsoft and its partners have managed to resolve most of these problems, though a bug with Conexant audio drivers still remains.
Fingers crossed that everything gets resolved.
