Digitimes is reporting that Acer and Lenovo are set to launch tablet PCs based on Microsoft’s Windows 8 and Intel’s Clover Trail platform.

The plan is to do this in the third quarter of 2012, according to their sources.

The iPad accounted for 60% of the tablet PC market in 2011 and Apple is expected to maintain its share at around 60% in 2012.

Intel is set to unveil its Medfield processor, designed specifically for Android-based smartphones and tablet PCs, in the first half of 2012.

The industry is putting more hope on Intel’s Clover Trail platform since Medfield’s performance is eclipsed by ARM-based processors.

Tablet PC’s are going to be big this year.

We look forward to reviewing the newest Windows 8 tablets on this site.
