There are some that believe Acer Iconia W3 should never have happened in the first place. The company was first off the blocks with an 8-inch Windows 8 tablet that hit the market a couple of months back.
But for some odd reason, the Iconia W3 was not equipped with appealing hardware, which meant the tablet failed to capture the attention of consumers. Some of the biggest complaints on the original tablet were reserved for its utterly lackluster display.
Word on the street back then was that the company was working on a new Windows 8 slate.
And now a new video has surfaced from an unnamed Intel event that shows the new tablet, the Iconia W4, in all its shiny glory. This is, for all intents and purposes, an improved Iconia. The device now sports an 8-inch IPS screen, and is said to powered by a 1.33GHz Atom Z3740 processor.
It remains to be seen what kind of performance the new Intel Atom Bay offers, but it could be along the lines of what the Toshiba Encore and ASUS Transformer Book T100 bring around.

Aside from the aforementioned processor, Acer seems to be going for an Intel HD4000 graphics chip, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Two cameras (5MP and 2MP) are also a part of this new and improved slate.
Display resolution is said to be 1280 by 800 pixels, and a microSD card reader, microHDMI port, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS are all part of the package.
The device is said to ship with Windows 8.1 preinstalled, alongside Microsoft Office 2013 Home and Student. And keeping in mind the fact that the new operating system is set to launch in October, the Acer Iconia W4 could possibly arrive in the same month.
And finally a word about the price tag. The latest guesstimate is somewhere around the $400 mark.
Nothing is set in stone, though, until the company officially announces it.
