How’s that for success! Good news to report on the Windows 10 April 2018 Update adoption front, with new statistics confirming that it is running on close to 85% of compatible PCs.
84.2%, to be exact.
These are AdDuplex numbers for the month of July 2018, which obviously have this variant of the OS as the number one version of Windows 10. The growth trend has continued after April 2018 Update reached a record share in the previous month.
The advertising network says that April 2018 Update gained more than 6% last month, as Microsoft completed the rollout.
Making this update available to all devices across the world.
This then has the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709) as the runner-up in these statistics, with a share of 10.3%, while the good old Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703) with 2.1% and surprisingly, the Anniversary Update (version 1607) ahead with 2.2%.
Interestingly, 0.3% of users are already running the Windows 10 Redstone 5 preview builds, as Redmond gears up to launch this refresh of the operating system well before the end of this year.
On the hardware side of things, we have confirmation that Surface Pro is the leading device, with AdDuplex noting:
“The latest Surface Pro continues to gain momentum and has grown by about 4.7% since the last time we checked. It will be interesting to see if Surface Go manages to make a serious dent in this chart in the upcoming months.”

For the time being, though, the situation of the various Surface models is pretty straightforward. The Surface Pro 4 is the leading device with 31.47%, while the Surface Pro 3 is listed at 20.01%.
Perhaps there are a few surprises in store for us before the year is out.
Not only will the performance of the Surface Go will be the one to keep an eye on, the next major release on Microsoft’s roadmap, Windows 10 Redstone 5 that is due out in fall, will also have an impact on these charts in the coming months.
