Firefox Quantum, the latest version of the Mozilla browser, is here. Not only is it faster and lighter, with noticeably smoother overall operations, and comes with a new logo, it also messes up extensions.

Expected.

The developer has been hyping up this newest version for a while now, touting the fact that it packs in so many improvements that they decided to call it Quantum. These massive improvements are now available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS.

So, what are they?

More details below, but first this video that shows Firefox 57 in action:

Looking good.

So, as you can see, this is one of the biggest overhauls to any web browser, not just Firefox.

It incorporates the next generation browser engine that Mozilla has developed, called Project Quantum, which delivers big jumps in performance. It is also faster at page loading while using less computer memory, and brings a gorgeous design with smart features for intelligent browsing.

Firefox Quantum UI

Mozilla claims that this latest version of Firefox is 30% lighter than market leader Chrome, which is saying a lot. It also features a faster CSS engine written in Rust that runs parallel across multiple cores.

And this is something that no other browser can do.

However, before you get too excited and head on to upgrade to Firefox Quantum, do take note that you might lose a lot of your extensions. Firefox has traditionally supported two types of extensions, legacy and WebExtensions. And from here on, legacy extensions will no longer work.

Still, if you are in for some Quantum fun, you can download the latest browser below.
