  • I have been a supporter of Windows 8, despite my friends insisting that Linux is still better. I would like to be able to show them the potential of this program, as well as enjoy it for myself and my productivity.

  • I deserve the software because if I have to face the new Windows 8 alone I may have to corner the market on Prozac, and where would that leave everyone else.

  • I have been using windows 8 since it’s first release on October last year. Since then, I was waiting for a free software that could make the previous start menu appear during start up. And right now, you are announcing that you will give free licenses for Retro UI, I cannot wait to fell it in my hands.
    Thank you for the software.
    More power.

  • I love the new apps and new features in Windows 8. But still, multitasking in the Modern UI is difficult. And I should be able to use multitasking easily, I’m using a PC, not a tablet! Kudos to the RetroUI devs for making it easier to seamlessly multitask Modern UI apps with desktop apps.

  • I will be totally honest. I want a license because I hate the way MS is forcing me to use their set up, if I wanted to do that I would have bought a mac instead of a PC.

  • When I first installed Windows 8, I don’even know how to shutdown the computer. It took me a lot of searching before I finally found it.
On the positive side, Windows 8 is very fast in start up and shutdown as compared to the older version of windows.

  • I have recently purchased a laptop with Win 7. I am planning to upgrade it to Win 8 but am waiting for some resolutions of the gap created by Win 8. Win 8 is exciting but misses what Microsoft’s Windows is all about – Start Button. I hope RetroUI will help me smoothen my transition from Win 7 to Win 8.

  • When the review version of Windows 8 first came out, I installed it in my desktop PC but I was overwhelmed by the new desktop screen. At first, I did’t know where to begin unable to see the familiar icons I’m used to with the classic desktop. I finally decided to remove windows 8. But with this Retro app, I will buy me a windows 8 and install it once again. Based on the video, it is exceedingly user friendly and surely I will recommend it to all my friends who are having the same predicament like myself and others. I think Thinix has done an amazing job. Thank you very much Ounora for this very interesting post. Hoping and praying to get a license.

  • There is no reason to go back. Start Menu is not really needed because you can find everything you want just with typing it. Remember that there are always shortcuts..
    And the most important:
Times change, technology advances and we have to follow and not stay behind just because we were used to old things. It won’t be convenient initially, but you’re gonna love it afterwards!

  • Most of my software works on the old windows desktop. The absence of the start menu is very painful. In addition, a small Christmas gift to France… it would be nice.

  • There are several good applications to bring back the start menu i.e. StartIsBack and if MS would listen to the punters instead of being blinkered they would bring a patch of their own out that would reinvigorate the old start menu.

  • Since i´m the tech person in my family I “get” to help out all the other members of my family and other relatives when it comes to Windows. After Windows 8 came out I´ve been using it from the start and I love it. On the other hand many have asked me why the old start menu is no more. I would love a copy of RetroUI to be able to try it, use it and recommend to all the people that are so set in their ways that the thought of “Metro” makes them dizzy 🙂

  • The Start Menu would be an improvement since I only use Windows 8 on my laptop (Windows 8 Pro X64) and my Shack Computer (Windows 8 X64) and neither have multitouch.

  • I almost always select the desktop manually from the Metro Screen anyway, because that is what I have been accustomed to in previous versions of Windows (and I’m too old to change) so RetroUI would save me time and hassle.

  • I am a big fan of the Windows 7 Interface. I’ve always worked with it nicely and intuitively. I have recently installed the windows 8 OS and while there were some nice improvements, it still doesn’t beat the old efficient interface. If you give it to me i’ll send you good karma wave lengths.

Chrystopher Chabert November 29, 2012 10:14 am Reply
  • The starting UI in windows are interactive for mobiles but not desktop users so i really need this retroUI to rewind back the old start interface.

Tharmendran Sukumaran November 29, 2012 10:26 am Reply
  • I am not a big fan of Windows “Hate”, mainly because of what they have done to good old Windows, so anything to bring back the Start menu and stop Windows loading into that daft “Metro” malarkey would be a god send and help bring back some of the faith I have lost in Microsoft. Keep up the good work, always a pleasure reading your updates 🙂

  • I’ll never go back, Windows 8 boots up in just a few seconds. Much faster than Windows 7. That being said, I want my start menu back! This would make Windows 8 even better.
