Gizmodo Australia viewed a training document on the tablet and scooped up all the big details. Here are the key points:

  • It will be called the “Nexus 7.”
  • It will have 1 GB of RAM.
  • It comes in 8 GB model for $199, and 16 GB for $250.
  • It’s built by Asus.
  • It supports Google Wallet, and NFC.
  • 9 hours battery life.
The tablet is expected to come in two variants: 8 GB and 16 GB. The 8 GB model will cost $199 16GB will cost $US249. Also the tablet is expected to run Android Jelly Bean which will be the next version of the company’s Android operating system. If Google launches it’s tablet at these prices, the Nexus 7 will become a big threat for Microsoft’s Surface tablet as Microsoft’s tablet is  expected  to price around $600. This is not a good situation for Microsoft. When they will launch, the product the market will already be on fire because of the Nexus tablet. So I think it might be a difficult sell for the Surface tablet. If you remember, Surface will also come in two variants : Windows RT model and Windows Pro model. The RT model is expected to arrive during the Windows 8 launch and the Windows Pro model will be available three months later. Interesting times….]]>
