Xbox and PC players rejoice, for one of the biggest games of the year has a launch date penciled in. Microsoft has finally confirmed that Halo Infinite will be here on December 8.

Previously, we had Holiday 2021 attached as the launch window of this highly anticipated title.

But Microsoft and developer 343 Industries announced the official launch date for the shooter during the Opening Night Live event on Gamescom. This confirmed the same-day leak that hinted at this possibility.

The December release date also gives the shooter some breathing room for itself against other massive FPS games that are launching this year — Battlefield 2042 in October and Call of Duty: Vanguard in November.

We also got a look at the first season of multiplayer via a cinematic intro that you can watch below:

Halo Infinite has had a bit of a troubled development history — its graphics were heavily criticized, and studio head Chris Lee stepped down following the lackluster reception to the gameplay. Halo veteran Joseph Staten was called in to help shape the game in a lead role.

And while the launch date has been set in stone that did not stop bad news from arriving.

It was confirmed last week that the campaign will not include cooperative play support at launch, something that has been a staple of the series. In addition, the Forge level editor will also be a post launch addition to the multiplayer equation.

Nevertheless, Halo Infinite is still a game that the gaming community is keenly looking forward to. Besides, with the way Microsoft develops games these days, features are going to continually be added to the title.

At launch, the game will include the campaign and the free-to-play multiplayer offering.

It will be available both across the Xbox Series X and S family of consoles, as well as Xbox One. On PC, the game is coming to both the Microsoft Store and Steam, and should make an appearance on Xbox Game Pass for PC.
