said to be preparing a variant of its flagship, the HTC One M8. And now we have some more details on this anticipated new handset. For starters, the Windows Phone 8.1 powered handset is expected to go official in the United States as soon as next month. On Verizon. And the interesting bit here is that HTC wants to release it with the same name as the Android based counterpart. Building on the brand, one could say. As this report notes, we might see the device launch as HTC One M8 for Windows Phone. It will hit the market with many of the same features as the Android variant, as well as some new options exclusive to Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1. These include dual HTC BoomSound speakers on the front, to go with the depth sensing Duo camera on the back. The smartphone will also offer Voice over LTE functionality, along with support for Cover Apps, both features new to the latest update to Microsoft’s mobile operating system. HTC One M8 for Windows Phone is on track to be made official on August 21 at Verizon, and as of right now there are no details on possible launch on other carriers.   • This is the most excited I’ve been for a Windows Phone probably ever! HTC has a track record and the price indicates that they think this is a top of the line phone. I’m intrigued to say the least.
