We meet again, Surface Pro 8! A prototype variant of what is believed to be Microsoft’s upcoming tablet was leaked a few weeks ago on eBay. And it has made another appearance for the world.
The customer who purchased the device is here to provide us with a closer look.
A photo galley has been posted on Reddit showcasing the purchased prototype, confirming what most of us expected. The new tablet does not come with any major changes compared to the Surface Pro 7, which is a bit of a downer.
Redmond is perfectly fine sticking with the existing Surface Pro look, as the photos below illustrate:
No chance, then, of a bezel less approach that many wanted. Though it’s important to note that this is still just a prototype model and may well be that Microsoft was experimenting with hardware upgrades inside the body of an existing Pro model.
In terms of hardware, the prototype comes housing the Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor that is paired with a solid 32GB of RAM.
A 1TB SSD storage is also accounted for, while the battery has seen an upgrade from 45,000 mAh on the Surface Pro 7 to 50,030 mAh here.
As for when this new model might make it to the market, Redmond is expected to make things official in spring of next year. Probably via a digital event unless the global health crisis is resolved by then.
The typical fall launch for the Pro 8 seems too far fetched out, considering the existence of this prototype unit in the wild.
