Windows 8.1 Preview has had a bit of a phased rollout. The preview version of the upcoming operating system was made available late last month via the Windows Store while also being offered as downloadable ISO files.
At the same time, enterprise edition was scheduled at a later date, while select few users were unable to install the preview version for hardware (and language packs) incompatibility reasons. Oh, and UK users were prevented from downloading and installing the OS and had to wait a few extra days
Unofficial reports came out yesterday that Windows 8.1 Preview was made available to users who previously installed language packs. Microsoft did not immediately confirm this, however.
But now the software titan has confirmed in a short post on its community forums that Windows 8.1 Preview is now available for Britons:
“We’re pleased to announce that we have expanded the supported languages for Windows 8.1 Preview to include English (United Kingdom), or EN-GB. If the base language of your PC is English (United Kingdom), you can now download Windows 8.1 Preview from Windows Store.”
Redmond has added support for English (United Kingdom) meaning users in the UK can download the new release from the Windows Store.
Obviously, standalone ISOs are also up for grab offering the possibility of going for a clean install if you want to go that route. Here’s to the release of enterprise ISOs soon for businesses and organizations, so that they can test out the preview version of Windows 8.1 too.
