details of this new assault, by the way. And now Microsoft is shifting this campaign into another gear, with a new promotion that not only comes with special advertisement that highlights the advantages Windows PCs have over Chrome OS powered laptops, but also shiny new hardware at some very special prices. The company emphasizes that these devices can run full Windows apps and Office, which makes them the ultimate productivity machines, as opposed to Chromebooks:
“Go beyond Chromebook and get a Windows PC that fits your lifestyle across work and play. An easy, affordable alternative to bulky PCs or inferior tablets. You would be surprised where a Chromebook comes up short. Unlike Chromebook, Windows laptops can run full versions of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and the whole Microsoft Office suite of products, making it the easy choice when you need something small and lightweight that you can tote to your next class or meeting, but still know you can squeeze in some play time with Halo or your favorite PC game if you want to.”A number of exciting models are up for grabs here, including the Dell Inspiron 15 and Acer Aspire E 15 ES1, both available for the amazing price of just $249. So is the Toshiba Satellite C55-C5298. Upping the price to $349 gets you the ASUS Transformer Book T100TA Gray Signature Edition 2-in-1 PC, which comes preloaded with the Office productivity suite. This is, with a $50 discount. The Chromebook market has grown by leaps lately, and the time for Microsoft to react is now. Good thing is, at these prices, many will opt for Windows hardware, if given a choice. The company’s strategy of making Windows free of charge to vendors that launch devices under $250 seems to be paying off.]]>

Smart initiative. They’re not so much attacking chrome books as they’re just pointing out facts. To me, Microsoft clearly has the better option here and it’s not that close! 🙂
