Are you ready? If you’re enrolled in the Windows Insider Program, it may be time to change your settings, as the first Windows 10 Redstone 4 builds are tracking for launch in this channel this week.

Microsoft is, of course, primarily focused on the rollout of the Fall Creators Update right now, which is slated for launch on October 17. But the various teams over at Redmond are also gearing up for the Redstone 4 development process to kick up speed.

An acceleration in the development process is very much imminent.

For this reason, the software titan posted a note on the Windows Mixed Reality Developer Forum, notifying users that if they are developing for the mixed reality platform, then they should be on the lookout for Redstone 4 builds.

As explained:

“For those of you developing VR experiences for the new Windows Mixed Reality immersive headsets, we have an important message: if you stay in the Windows Insider Fast ring, beginning October 10, 2017 you may begin to receive RS4 builds, which will not be the most stable builds for mixed reality development. To continue mixed reality development uninterrupted, please switch your Insider settings to receive “just fixes, apps, and drivers” without getting a new Windows build from the “Windows Insider Release Preview” ring.”

Even though this message is targeted at Mixed Reality developers, it is something of concern for all Windows Insiders — particularly the ones that are using these builds as their daily drivers.

Basically, unless you want to get your hands dirty with the buggier preview builds, for this next version of the operating system, it is advised to switch to the Release Preview ring from the Fast ring, as soon as possible.

These Redstone 4 builds will come hard and fast.
