Other Apple partners watch out. LG, Sharp, any other company that does business with Apple are fair game if you’re a threat to them. Robert Scoble said “Microsoft ponied up $8 billion for Skype, but it “only cost $1 billion [for Samsung] to become the #2 most profitable mobile company.… So, for 1/8th of a Skype Samsung took RIM’s place and kicked HTC’s behind.” That’s spin on the verdict. I can say this is bad for technology and I know what’s going to happen but that would be naive of me to do so. No one really knows what’s going to happen. It’s most likely either what we fear will happen or what we wish will happen depending on the side of the coin we’re on. In a fair trial I thought Samsung should have been the hands down winner. I think if this were any other company than Apple things would have turned out different. If this were Microsoft VS Samsung, Microsoft would not only have lost but would have had anther government chastising. This is just what I think though and I could be wrong. I hope I am wrong, because if I’m right things can get more messy than they are now.]]>

Scumbag apple !
Why are people so outraged about the infringement claims? I really dislike Apple, but even I can see that phones like the Samsung Galaxy SII have been heavily influenced by the iPhone (which doesn’t even look that good).
Robert, I think you are correct and I agree with all your points.
I keep reading comments on the Web with people defending Apple saying they have a right to these (what I feel to be) silly patents.
The one analogy I like best is the Ford innovation. When Ford created the automobile, they didn’t patent the brake, clutch, and gas pedals nor the order they are in. Ford didn’t patent the steering wheel being round and its use.
Suing for pinch to zoom, look and feel of something that is close, is just silly.
I do believe companies should be able to protect their IP, but come on, this is getting out-of-control silly.
I support Samsung over Apple in this case. Also, what about Apple’s blatant copying of other company’s work? Even the bouncing of the lock screen for the iPhone when touching the camera button.. stolen from Windows lock screen. Even Stevo Jobs (yes I said Stevo) admitted in his keynote (Bing it) that a good company copies from others. I am not cutting him down. Taking an idea and making it better is good, IMO.
Anyway, the tech industry has become crazy with lawsuits. I personally think Apple’s day is coming. I don’t mean a day with baskets of kittens either.
And yes, I have Apple products and they are nice. Not great, but nice.
