Additionally, Computerworld also fielded the question to a Microsoft spokesperson, and while they got confirmation that the company is working on the next version of Office for Mac, it appears that it the refresh is only happening in the second half of the year. Microsoft has, in the meantime, refreshed Office for Mac 2011 with some minor updates, including adding in support for Retina Display, but a full refresh is surely in order. Luckily, things finally seem to be picking up pace on this front.]]>

This is an interesting phenomenon. Clearly Macs are the “hotter” computer right now. Microsoft still asserts its dominance in business programs, especially office. Obviously, Microsoft eliminates a large customer base if they don’t offer it to Apple users, but the question is whether or not giving the best office version to Apple will drive people on the fence away from Windows. Interesting dilemma.
Very interesting point, Ted. I own Microsoft Office 2011 for my one Mac. It works pretty well, but I still think Office is typically better and ahead on the curve as far as Windows is concerned. My guess is that the trend will continue. Windows will always innovate its own Office before it focuses on Apple.
