You have got to hand it to Nokia. The Finnish telecom giant is all heart for Windows Phone, and with the rampant success of the Lumia devices, Nokia is focusing more and more on Microsoft’s mobile platform.
While Samsung, LG, and other mobile phone makers are busy juggling Windows Phone along with Android (Tizen too, in the case of Samsung), it seems that every other week we hear rumors and gossip about a new Windows Phone 8 devices from Nokia.
This time, word on the street is of an alleged 6 inch smartphone — codenamed Bendit.
It is one of the smartphones that Nokia is said to make official in the near future, and is said to sport a large 6 inch touchscreen display. A smartphone like this was previously rumored to arrive on the market a year or so back, yet no details emerged on it until now.
A recent tweet from @leakschina was accompanied by the photo above, and claims that this interesting new mobile device will be launched a little while after the Nokia EOS (Lumia 1020).
Other specifications are still under wraps, but it is said to be powered by Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. This last bit means that either the upgrade to Microsoft’s mobile platform is coming sooner than expected, or the 6 incher is to be announced at the end of the year, probably next.
Redmond is expected to launch Windows Phone 8.1 (codenamed Windows Phone Blue) in the first half of next year, while the GDR2 update for Windows Phone 8 is slated for next month.
Windows Phone 8 GDR3 is on track for the end of this year.
Given that official confirmation is yet to emerge on this large screen smartphone, take this information with a big grain of salt. But Nokia may have to release a large screen phablet or smartphone sooner rather than later, so keep an eye on the matter, nevertheless.
