That was, shall we say, fast. Buzz among the bees is that Windows Mixed Reality headsets are about to get SteamVR support in just a few days from now, which should make these devices a lot more fun.

We already knew that Microsoft was working on adding support for this virtual reality platform for these headsets. But previous intelligence hinted that this compatibility was supposed to arrive at a later date, or in other words, not as early.

However, now there are rumors that buyers can expect this to go live later this month.

On November 15.

The headsets themselves are already on the market, with the latest one, Samsung Odyssey, seeing particularly positive reception. Other companies like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo are also in the mix for these mixed reality devices — pun always intended.

All you need is a PC running the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and one of these abovementioned headsets, and you are good to go.

Microsoft currently has some 60 apps and games experiences for the Windows Mixed Reality platform, but the company opening access to SteamVR games will be great both for users and developers, as this catalog includes several high-profile titles.

Including Superhot VR, Batman: Arkham VR, and Fallout 4 VR, which is coming in December.

All this content will soon be available for owners of these Windows Mixed Reality headsets. And considering the fact that these HMDs come with the inside-out tracking technology, these will be much easier for users to set up and use, compared to the likes of HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

Excellent development, this.

Timely, too.
