Joe Belfiore, in his keynote speech at MWC 2014 in Barcelona, made a statement that while Update 1 makes the modern platform easier to use on desktop computers, the company has not forgotten touch:
“We have a number of targeted UI improvements that keep our highly satisfying touch experience intact, but that make the UI more familiar and more convenient for users with mouse/keyboard. Don’t worry, we still LOVE and BELIEVE IN touch… but you’ll like how much more smooth and convenient these changes make mouse and keyboard use! We bet on touch and on mobility in a big way, and included a fresh take on what a touch-based interface could be for customers. We believe deeply in this direction and the future will continue to build on Windows 8.”The company is committed to bringing more and more touch devices to market that run its modern operating platform, with sources hinting that an 8-inch Surface tablet is set for release later this year. But it is nice to see the software titan taking into account the response it received from mouse and keyboard users regarding its modern OS and implementing some of it.]]>

If they believe in it. They need to find a way to help their hardware partners make and market more touch devices. Invest a few hundred million or even a billion in touch support
I do believe majority users will be using touch devices. Only those who need precise pointing will still be using mouse click. Be prepare to clean your screen more often. 🙂
Some great news , at least now it will take less RAM and I could do virtualization easily…
