Intel recently unleashed its anticipated Haswell lineup of CPUs, and though desktop processors are readily available all over the world as of this writing, hardware vendors are currently scampering to release their notebook solutions.

Several large vendors have already announced or unveiled new and refreshed lineups for the year, and now Toshiba has also brought forward its Haswell powered laptops.

Toshiba’s Satellite brand is now as strong as ever — with an addition of several new members to the family. The company has just introduced 14 and 15 inch ultrathin laptops, as well as a refresh of its Satellite U and M laptops.

The 14-inch Toshiba Satellite E45t and the 15.6-inch Satellite E55t/E55Dt are the crown jewels in the company’s latest refresh. The two notebooks come with all sorts of standard features that one would expect from an ultrabook, including a thin and light body and touchscreen, even a backlit keyboard.

One unexpected (but welcome) feature in these new models is the voice control technology.

Dubbed Dragon Assistant, the voice assistant is initialized by saying “Hello Dragon”. Once on, it can search the web, find content on the local HDD/SDD of the ultrabook, check and reply to emails, make Skype calls, and of course, update Facebook and Twitter.

The only thing it cannot currently do is make a cup of coffee, but surely Toshiba is working on this.

Pricing of the ultrabooks currently remains unknown, but the 14-inch device will begin shipping on August 4, and the 15.6-inch series is set for debut in September.
