I tedn to disagree with you for stating that “third world” countries would not be buying licencing for windows 7 soon.. you are ill-informed and very much incorrect..
You have no basis to say this and have no proof foy our foolish comment here.. You should have specified where exactly..
I live in the Caribbean and i am fully away that many companies have if not many upgraded to Windows 7 over Windows Vista..
And please using this term “Third World Countries” is a derogatary WORD/PHRASE..

Dear Onuora,
The reason still operating Windows XP, my dell inspiron 8600 run slow on windows 7 due to lack of memory space, I know that Windows 7 have much better performance and even it can repaired itself when error occured. Unfortunately I can’t find The Windows Movie Maker, I’ve to download it from the web which was for Windows Vista. Until now my dell inspiron 8600 sound good with Windows XP and I’ll wait till it stop working and change to a more sophisticated machine and use the latest software available on the market. Thank you for sending information, I learn much about your product and it is useful.

I have 3 programs, yes indeed old, but are essential to me as there is no replacement for them that I can afford at least. (I am old too and retired). I use Cool Edit 2 for my audio needs, Canopus Let’s Edit for my video editing and Ulead DVD Workshop 2 for DVD authoring all of which run nicely on Windows XP. I don’t have any issues with speed or freezing, I have a second PC which came with Windows 7 and none of my above mentioned programs will even install much less run. So, I still run with Windows XP and will continue to do so unless anyone knows a cure. I have a fried who had me reset up Windows XP on his Toshiba lap top for the same reason. I originally came with Windows 7.

crap! the home desktop i have is windows vista home basic, which i want
to kill it with a hammer, and the two laptops that we have are windows
xp, so that switch will affect me.
You can ask my dad if he wants to change to Windows 7 or Windows 8, which i hope the kill switch for both of these OS happens, so he can change his mind.
His response: “Windows xp is the only OS that is reliable and simple, and Vista just needs cleaning and updating.”
well, what about old, ugly and slow as f**k!!!

Windows went to the dogs after Vista ! & leaves little control over hardware and ones access
to properties of just about all else. Plug and play was a great step forward in system control
but that was as far we needed! Past Vista the OP took over totally. XXX

I run the 64 bit version of Windows 7 and love it for most programs. However, I still have some essential 16 bit programs that will not run on Windows 7. I use a virtual XP machine to run those programs. If it wasn’t for virtualization, I would still be running XP as my main OS.
