It is no hidden secret that developers are taking center stage for Microsoft. The company’s newest platforms requires extensive app development, even services like Windows Azure have the need for custom development.
With this in mind, the software titan has increased its efforts to get closed to developers.
Redmond has initiated special giveaways, contests, launched new websites filled with resources, and whatnot. This time, however, it is giving away special invites to its BUILD conference set for next month.
Developers who design Metro 8 apps get a chance to win a trip to the event set to take place in late June, and will be able to witness the public launch of Windows 8.1 — and maybe a new Surface tablet too, if such a device is ready to be unveiled.
Speaking of Surface tablets, runner ups to contest will get a Surface Pro tablet or a one-year subscription to Microsoft Office 2013. The contest is not just limited to Windows 8 app developers, in fact.
Those who do not have time or coding experience can also win prizes. As Microsoft said:
“You don’t have to port an app to win. Vote for apps, leave feedback, ask and answer questions on Stack Overflow, and you’ll be eligible for prizes including a Surface Pro, an Office 365 subscription, or an Apptivate t-shirt.”
Complete details of the contest are available here, which you can go through if you are interested in entering. I’ll just cap it all off by saying that it’s a great time to be a Windows developer.
