The month is April, and the situation is critical. Microsoft is set to release a total of nine different security bulletins next week as part of its monthly Patch Tuesday cycle in its bid to fix critical vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer and Windows 7.
According to the Security Bulletin Advance Notification for April 2013, one of the critical updates is aimed at the company’s flagship browser, Internet Explorer, which is currently at version 10.
In fact, the patches will be aimed at all Internet Explorer versions on all Windows versions, from Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 8. And by all versions, it means the very ancient IE 6 to the newly released Internet Explorer 10.
More specifically, Microsoft is said to have found a critical security flaw in Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8 (on Windows XP Service Pack 3), Internet Explorer 7, 8 and 9 (on Windows Vista Service Pack 2) and Internet Explorer 8, 9 and 10 (on Windows 7).

Additionally, Redmond will also roll out fixes for a bunch of its Windows platforms — XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista Service Pack 2 and Windows 7. Nothing critical is planned for Windows RT and Windows 8, by the way.
All fixes are set to be delivered soon via the integrated Windows Update, so make sure you have this option enabled to keep your operating system as well as installed software safe and sound.
