details, and the sources reveal that the preview version of Windows Phone 8.1 is on track for launch Thursday, April 10 by Microsoft. Developers will then be able to get a look at the many new features that the company has lined up for the mobile operating system. Windows Phone 8.1 has reportedly already hit the RTM milestone, and has been sent to hardware partners, including Nokia, for further processing. The Developer Preview program was actually launched by Redmond back in October in order to provide application makers an early access to its mobile operating system — so that they can test and optimize their applications ahead of the final consumer release. It is open for anyone who signs up for a free App Studio account, obviously. And as you can imagine, people do try and upgrade their handsets this way. The only major catch is that the smartphones upgraded through this special program have their warranty voided. Plus sometimes it does not come with firmware upgrades for certain devices. And not to mention, a device cannot be rolled back to a previous version of the mobile OS, once a preview version is deployed. Risks, people, risks. But then again, the world of technology is filled with them!]]>

  • It seems like there’s so many tentative dates thrown around in technology, it’s hard to believe. I will believe it when I see this April 10th. Until then, I’m just looking forward to it. LOL
