Aww, they grow up so fast! This year is extra special for fans of Microsoft products. It marks the 10th anniversary of the Surface line of devices, which has carved out a nice little niche for itself.
From the shakiest of starts to becoming some of the best products on the market.
It has been a journey, alright!
Fully aware of this momentous occasion, Microsoft is said to be gearing up to launch a bunch of new hardware devices carrying the Surface branding later this year. In fact, this and the arrival of the first feature update for Windows 11 are two main events for the company this year.
Both are said to transpire around the Ignite 2022 conference, which itself will finally be a physical, in-person gathering this year.
Getting back to the Surface, we received this new intelligence from The Verge, which claims that Microsoft plans to celebrate the milestone with new Surface devices.
A trip down memory lane will reveal that Microsoft launched its original Surface RT tablet line on October 26, 2012. An eternity in technology terms, that year marked a noticeable change in how the Redmond-based company approached hardware and software going forward.
It is only logical that it now marks this occasion, this 10-year anniversary, with products not just for consumers but also for fans who have supported this impressive lineup of machines over the decade.
That said, things have been rather quiet on this front ever since the launch of the Surface Laptop Go 2, which made its way out at the start of June.
Sign that something is cooking?
We shall find out soon!
