One major difference between the Surface Pro, and every other Windows PC I’ve ever had is that it doesn’t have any sort of CD or DVD drive. It makes installing software–particularly legacy software I already own on DVDs–a challenge.

I’m not completely new to this game, though, because I’ve been living without a DVD drive for the past year and a half with my MacBook Air. I either have an email stored somewhere with a link to download the application, or I’ve already downloaded it and have it saved on a hard drive.

For Day 7 of the 30 Days series, though, I explore some of the other solutions for situations where you have software you need to install from a DVD onto a Surface Pro tablet. You might have to jump through some hoops to make it happen, but it can be done.
